ECOSOC 2013: the role of culture in sustainable development to be explicitly recognised

I3C is pleased to share with our partners  the document "ECOSOC 2013: the role of culture in sustainable development to be explicitly recognised" (please click on the link to open the document), which has been prepared to assist persons and organizations willing to effectively contribute to the preparations of the 2013 session of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

The international community is debating the new paradigm which will define development policies and programmes for the decades to come, in a process which is known as the Post-2015 Development Agenda. The next two years, and in particular the upcoming sessions of the ECOSOC, will provide a unique window of opportunity to make sure that culture is given adequate consideration, as driver and as enabler of sustainable development. Culture is about creativity, heritage, knowledge and diversity, and it is intrinsically connected to human development and freedoms.

We kindly ask you to consider the content of this document in your advocacy and lobby initiatives. You may also disseminate and spread this document. You can use it in the preparation of the ECOSOC 2013 as well as in other processes related to explicit recognition of culture in the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
