The Bread Net(works) Travelling Photography Exhibition started its travels at the Red House Cultural Center, Sofia(Bulgaria), Dec’10-Jan’11:(http://www.redhouse-sofia.org/Default.aspx). The photo exhibition features 160 photographs from 33 countries taken by Nadezhda Savova, who has traveled and researched as an anthropologist explorer, adventurer, and pilgrim in a total of 65 countries. The photographs explore the developments of the International Council for Cultural Centers, from cultural centers in the Brazilian favelas to small art centers in the Gobi desert of India. The consolidating theme of the exhibition is bread and collective bread-making as ways to sense and taste the real, tangible thread of human connection through creativity as encoded in the most basic food experiences as a universal art form.
In February and March 2011, the exhibition was at the Gabrovo City Gallery, and it is now expected to start travelling around Europe and the world through the contact points of the I3C network.
In May 2012, the exhibition was shown at the Bulgarian Consulate General's Cultural Space in New York. Following this event, the exhibition was invited to Chicago from September to November 2012.
