The II International Congress on Culture and Social Transformation, Mar del Plata, Argentina, March 17-19, 2011 is organized by the Latin American Network of Arts for Social Transformation, RLATS, www.artestransformador.net, an I3C assocaited network, together with the Municipality of Buenos Aires. The Congress will explore best practices in region, trans-national cooperation projects,
and in particular the on-going work on the regionalization of the Brazilian pontos de cultura model in other countries that wish to develop such active national community arts networks. http://www.ic.gba.gov.ar/congreso/
The workshop on the implementation of the model in possible other contexts will be led by Celio Turino, the Brazilian main coordiantor of the Pontos de Cultura Network. The participants will include government officials from Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil (the three main countries currently developing the cultural points model) and non-governmental networks such as: Redes Mesoamericanas y Latinoamericanas de Arte y Transformación Social; Puntos de Cultura Brasil; Radios Comunitarias de América Latina; Red de Articulación Arte y Política Latinoamericana.
